Dutch Sheets Speaks On Todd Bentley

I am writing this blog because I believe this leader is doing the right thing. Most of you know who Dutch Sheets is, well he just went even higher in my book. He is a respected leader, author and speaker. I really appreciate what he had to say. I will only share a blurb with you. Feel free to look up the whole statement online. I am only printing a portion.

For the record, my intention is not to keep hashing over this situation but many, many of you have talked to me about it in person because you did not want to publicly post a comment so I know it is still on everyone’s mind. (BTW, you can comment anonymously if you like! 🙂 My intention rather is to show you what I believe we as leaders should take notice of. I think Dutch Sheets puts it as eloquent as anyone that I have heard. I appreciate his candor, integrity, and humility.

The Bigger Picture (by Dutch Sheets)

It may come as a surprise, however, that my real purpose in writing this is
not to only state the above, as important as I believe saying it is. My primary
purpose, and I believe my assignment from the Lord, is to identificationally repent
on behalf of the leadership of the charismatic body of Christ (see Nehemiah 1:4-
7; Daniel 9:1-19). In doing so, I do not have a pompous, “no one else will, so I’ll
do it” attitude, nor am I arrogant enough to think I have become the
spokesperson for the charismatic church. But in the same way that I can identify
with the racism of white predecessors and repent to blacks, Native Americans
and other races, I can represent the leadership of the charismatic body of Christ
and identificationally repent for our sins and weaknesses. I encourage leaders
who find my statements true and appropriate to join me. Beyond the simple fact
of it being appropriate, I firmly believe it is the only way to begin the process of
rebuilding trust with those asked to follow us and to remove the cynicism of the
world we ask to listen to us. As you know, regaining credibility is much more
difficult than attaining credibility.

Concerning what I’m about to say, I don’t believe I have a critical spirit, nor
do I want to diminish the sacrifices, faithfulness, and hard work done by so many
in ministry. The fact remains, however, that we have failed the Lord and His
people in many ways—not just with Lakeland but in countless other situations—
and must repent if we are to be trusted in the future. And as you also know, no
repentance is effective if watered down and couched in excuses, therefore, I
intend to be brutally honest:

1) We, the leaders of the charismatic community, have operated in an
extremely low level of discernment. Frankly, we often don’t even try to
discern. We assume a person’s credibility based on gifts, charisma,
the size of their ministry or church, whether they can prophesy or
work a miracle, etc. (Miracles and signs are intended to validate God
and His message, not the messenger; sometimes they validate the
assignment of an individual, but never the person’s character, lifestyle
or spiritual maturity.) We leaders in the Church have become no
different than the world around us in our standards for measuring
success and greatness. This has contributed to the body of Christ
giving millions of dollars to undeserving individuals; it has allowed
people living in sin to become influential leaders—even to lead
movement, allowing them influence all the way to the White House.
Through our lack of discernment we built their stages and gave them
their platforms. We have been gullible beyond words—gullible
leaders producing gullible sheep.

When a spiritual leader we’re connected with violates trust, is
exposed for immorality or falls below other accepted standards of
behavior, it does not exonerate us simply to say we don’t condone
such behavior. Those we lead trust us to let them know whom to
trust. We have failed them miserably in this regard.
For this lack of discernment, and for employing and passing on
inappropriate standards of judgment, I repent to the Lord and ask
forgiveness of the body of Christ.

2) We, the leaders of the charismatic church, spin our involvement and
fail to acknowledge our responsibility when other leaders fall—all of
which stems from our self-preservation and pride. Enough of the
spin—we’re no different than Washington, DC. Every time another
embarrassing and disgraceful situation is exposed, the dancing
begins. It seems that no one bears any real responsibility except the
man or woman who actually commits sin. Incredibly, we even blame
“revival” itself—the pressures, attacks, weariness, the “revival is
messy” argument, etc., saying it is responsible for the failures. This is
disgusting. Those of us on boards of fallen leaders, those who helped
give them a voice, put them on TV, published and endorsed their
books (yes, I have), etc., are not exonerated simply by saying we
don’t condone the wrong behavior or that we didn’t know. We’re
supposed to know.

I don’t believe anyone is expecting perfection from us—I
know I’m not. We’re far too human for that. But we are expected to
have enough humility to look the world and those who follow us in the
eye when we miss it and say, “we were wrong and we are sorry.”
Our careless accountability has caused the body of Christ to
be spiritually raped and abused. It has produced disillusionment and
brought immeasurable reproach to our God and cynicism to His
message. Concerning Lakeland, what was called the “greatest
revival since Azusa Street” has become possibly one of the greatest
reproaches. We, the leaders of the charismatic church, are

For not accepting and acknowledging our responsibility, for
caring more about our own reputation than Christ’s, I repent to God
and ask forgiveness of the body of Christ.

3) Our procedures and standards of accountability are incredibly
inadequate. We have provided camaraderie, not biblical
accountability. For those on Todd Bentley’s board who had previous
knowledge of his marriage problems and said nothing, it was more
than a mistake—it was reckless, foolish, and irresponsible. For those
on the stage the night of his aligning and commissioning who knew
and said nothing—ditto. For those there who didn’t know, my
question is, “why didn’t you?” You were trusted to know. That is one
of the purposes of public commissioning and the purpose behind the
concept of endorsement. I’m not trying to point the finger; I’m
endeavoring to get us to be honest about our failures—we have
serious credibility issues. Have I ever laid hands on, commissioned or
endorsed anyone without adequately checking them out? Yes, but
you better believe I’ll be more careful next time!

And we must not single out Lakeland. We’re all guilty.
What about the leader in my city who ran with some of the leading
spiritual fathers in our nation—sincere and good men, I might add,
and not all “charismatic” leaders—who sang his praises and helped
build his stage—all while he was doing drugs and having sex with
other men? But we shouldn’t blame only the high profile cases—what
about those of us who unknowingly have had adulterers on our staffs
or appointed elders that turned out to have compromise in their life?
Sounding familiar yet?

This is so epidemic that every member of the body of Christ
stands guilty—what pastor or leader did you follow that turned out to
have sin issues? What ministry did you support that was unworthy?
There is plenty of blame to go around. The big question becomes not
“who do we blame” but “how do we fix this mess?”

Leaders can live in sin—adultery, homosexuality, financial
wrongdoing, drugs, etc.—for years without it being realized. They can
offer completely unacceptable lifestyles for the body of Christ to
follow and still keep their TV programs and lavish lifestyles. In the
name of grace, compassion and forgiveness we have lowered the
standard so much that often there isn’t one. We have bought into the
lie that true discipline is “shooting our wounded.” We have made a
mockery of biblical restoration, making “ministry”—not healthy
individuals, marriages and families—its ultimate goal. The fact is,
integrity matters. No, we don’t need legalistic, pharisaical standards,
but we must have standards.

For this lack of biblical accountability, I repent to God and I ask
forgiveness of the body of Christ.

4) We, the leaders of the charismatic church, have built on hype,
sensation, innovation, programs, personality and charisma. This has
produced: shallowness; false movements; novice leaders—gifted but
immature and untested; a deficient understanding of God’s word; the
building of man-centered rather than kingdom-centered churches and
ministries; competition rather than cooperation; humanistic, selfcentered
Christians who don’t understand sacrifice and commitment;
Christians without discernment; superstar leaders; a perverted and
powerless gospel; prayerless and anemic Christians; a replacement
of the fear of the Lord with the fear of man; and a young generation
that is cynical of it all. We are responsible, not the devil; he takes
what we give him.

For this compromise in the way we build, for giving the
Church watered down wine, commercial Christianity, a flashy but
weak Church and hype disguised as anointing, I repent to God
and ask forgiveness of the body of Christ.

Galatians 6:1-5 is an appropriate reference with which to end this
statement: “Brethren, even if a man caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual,
restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, lest you
too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ.
For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have reason for
boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. For each one
shall bear his own load.” NAS

My passionate prayer is that God honors this repentance—I believe He
led me to do it and therefore, will—and uses it to begin a process of cleansing
and healing for all of us. In order for the coming great awakening to bear
maximum fruit we must have both, as well as a course correction that sets us on
a path of wisdom leading to life. There is no doubt that past moves of God have
been aborted, ended prematurely and contained error or heresy that have
wounded, if not destroyed, many. The healing revival of the 40’s and 50’s, the
charismatic movement, discipleship movement and Jesus movement are all
examples. My heart is to help shape a movement, the fruit of which will last for
decades—better yet, forever. And I have great expectations for us—I am not a

My passionate prayer is also that Todd Bentley’s marriage survives and
thrives…that he turns his heart fully toward Christ and toward those with whom
he is aligned, and allows them, as God leads, to put him on a path of complete
restoration. I thank God for those who were touched by the Holy Spirit at
Lakeland and while watching it on God TV and the web.
May we all move forward into all God has planned for us in this awesome
season of endless possibility.

With great hope—Dutch Sheets

  1. “We have bought into the lie that true discipline is “shooting our wounded.” We have made a mockery of biblical restoration, making “ministry”—not healthy individuals, marriages and families—its ultimate goal. The fact is,integrity matters.”

The whole thing is very well said, candid, and needed. Hindsight is 20/20. Makes me think of why more people with a “prophetic gift” didn’t see some of these things more clearly beforehand.

Too bad it takes a painful event for Charismatics to get us listening and talking about these things again. We should always uphold the New Testament standard of leaders “ruling their own houses well” , despite a persons gifts and “power.”

  2. After considering all the evidence, I think that that Todd Bentley is a Warlock taking instructions direct from angels of light (Lucifer, demons etc.).

2 Cor 11:13-15 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Todd has carried out all his “BAM power” ministry in the name of Jesus, but make that a false Christ:

Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect–if that were possible.

The devil puts on a good show to entice, and Todd has represented the devils way well by satisfying the desires of the flesh for physical sensations, visions, etc.

2 Thes 2:9-12 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

I believe the “bride of Christ” is being enticed to fornicate with demons.

Take heed Christians, and repent quickly if you have been involved with “charismatic fornication” with other spirits, as it is unclean before God.

Consider the warning given to believers to stop committing adultery with the “whore of Babylon” in Revelation 18:2-4

Jesus said “a wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign” (Matt 12:39).

Does “asking for a miraculous sign” demand a performance from God just like the pursuit of supernatural experiences such as being “slain in the spirit”, “Toronto Blessing”, heavenly visitations and visions, etc.?

The Bible does not endorse people directing the Holy Spirit or teach methods to repeatedly make supernatural experiences or events occur.

The desire to have experiences could be a self indulgent avoidance of what God really wants us to do.

When this disobedience and lack of discernment are combined, people may easily accept counterfeit phenomena from the Devil, eg.:

Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect–if that were possible.

Could Christian fellowships become dens of the occult with things like body vibrations, howlings, apparitions, and visions given by demons?

The seeking of experiences could be an attempt to treat the Holy Spirit like a circus clown or temple prostitute for personal indulgence.
All these wrong things may be tolerated because there is no fear of God and poor discernment:

Prov 1:29-31 Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD, since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

At a New Zealand Promise Keepers event 2 years ago well known evangelist Bill Subrizky got all the men up who couldn’t speak in tongues.
Then he got them to practice saying aba-daba-aba-daba-aba-daba-aba-daba-aba-daba.

    That mocks the Holy Spirit.

A strong desire for truth, and confidence to reject the false is critical to avoid fraudsters, scams and counterfeits of any type.

The “big party” will occur in heaven after we die (eg. Rev 19:9), not now.
For now, we have to prove ourselves faithful through difficulties.
1 Tim 4:16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

If we are truly “hungry for God” we should only do things the Bible specifically affirms, such as repent of sins, develop the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control – Gal 5:22-23), worship and appreciate God, endure through trials, help people, read the Bible, share the true gospel, etc.

Signs, wonders, visions, and other supernatural experiences are God’s business according to his agenda.

    Seeking them is unsafe.

Todd Bentley and all his mentors should repent of their witchcraft, false teachings and false prophecy.

A 10 year old child handing out gospel tracts would have done more for the kingdom of God than the ridiculous circus that was “Lakeland Revival”.

Eph 5:6-11 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

Gal 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Matthew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

  3. Well Bill C. I hear you loud and clear. Thanks for sharing your heart. I do take a different stance on miracles and such but I do understand where you are coming from. It seems a place of a lot of pain.

I am not one for throwing the baby out with the bath water though but I do believe that some SERIOUS accountability is in order.

    Thanks again!

  4. I am so encouraged by the stance of accountability and responsibility in the letter from Dutch. From the coffee spilt on the woman and she got burned, to suing Mc Donald’s, right up to the murder victim’s family suing the gun maker for the death of their loved one, noone takes responsibility for their actions anymore. The woman spilled the coffee and the shooter pulled the trigger, but they are not held accountable. Our society has digressed from being Christian based and having scripture in our legislature, to us being complacent and letting one or two people change the rights of the majority because they caught us sleeping. We need to wake up and speak up. They are now trying to stop Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen and the like from airing scriptures over the airwaves, and stop televising church services. It’s in the committees to send it to the house on a bill they are trying to put through. We are supposed to be a nation under God, and the protection of God. If we take him out of everything, He will not protect us. The country is in for a huge awakening, a huge change of life, if that happens. We are a society of instant gratification and what about me’s, if we don’t wake up and do something, we have noone to blame but ourselves.
Enough of my rambling, just venting my frustration with how the world is going….

  5. >> I do understand where you are coming from. It seems a place of a lot of pain.

A bit condescending to presume my firm view is driven by pain.
More like highly displeased at seeing people harmed by charlatans.

    >> I am not one for throwing the baby out with the bath water………

There’s no baby in there, it’s a counterfeit plastic doll.

The bathwater and the doll must go.

How come witches and warlocks have established ministries that are being hosted and promoted by churches?
Patricia King, Todd Bentley, Rick Joyner and Bob Jones are all contenders for this charge.

Some backtracking is required to work out where things went astray.

14 years ago I happily had myself and my family amongst the “Toronto Blessing” at a church in NZ.

Now I believe TB to be an occultic manifestation of Hindu / “New Age” Kundalini awakening – eg. see http://www.adishakti.org/_/what_is_kundalini_power.htm

I have asked myself, “How come I didn’t discern there was something wrong with it back in 1994 ?”

I think the answer was an event that occurred at a Christian Evangelism school 4 years prior where I had something imparted that felt good, so I accepted a teaching that went with it and from then was open to anything that had a “feel good” charisma in a church setting with the name of Jesus involved.

(now I am aware there is such a thing as a false Christ, which Christians could mistakenly interact with (angels of light, etc.). )

One of the meanings of “Charismatic” is:
“possessing an extraordinary ability to attract; “a charismatic leader”; “a magnetic personality”

There is similarity to the concept of “being bewitched” through the influence of a person using certain techniques of mind control and spiritual power to deceive, etc.

Gal 3:1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you?………………..

The concept of “Charismatic” in a church setting seems to have become associated with questionable practices and teachings.

The ultimate in extreme silliness might have to go to a John Crowder who has “drunken glory tours” and “tokes the ghost” (a symbolic hybrid of the Holy Ghost and marijuana. See http://blip.tv/file/971137

John Crowder is linked up with Patricia King, Todd Bentley, Rick Joyner, Bob Jones etc., so the plot thickens. They are all connected to the same spirit.

And it isn’t the Holy Spirit.

I have chucked out the baby (plastic doll) and the bathwater, and gone back to “plain vanilla” Christianity, just myself and the Bible and reasonable fellowship and debates with other believers who prove themselves authentic.

There is no pain in that, just relief.

    Bill C

  6. Well Bill C,
Again thanks for sharing what you have on your heart but it seems that the very thing you were saying was condescending you cleared up by sharing where this (in my opinion) pain comes from. You felt snookered and no one is gonna do that to ole Bill again. I hear you loud and clear. The difference between where you are and where I am is that I want people to be restored and my love for them comes out. I don’t see that in your writings. I understand being angry but it seems a bit like a vigilante. God will vindicate but we do have a part to play by not putting ourselves in situations that we should not. It goes back to discernment every time.

  7. Hello Penny M
    >> You felt snookered and no one is gonna do that to ole Bill again.

You are just being dogmatic in insisting my views are driven by pain, anger, etc, rather than being driven by a clear conviction of truth.
Such speculation on my inner person is bordering on manipulation.

“I can see you have pain in your life” is counselor speak.
I have seen those statements used before to shut down people who have displeasing views.

Maybe you are misbehaving because you are displeased with my opinions?
Now I am entering in to presumption about your motives, which is not a good idea, as presumptions can be wrong.

My intention to post to the blog is to contribute debate, not enter in to psychological warfare with people I don’t know.

    Is Todd Bentley a warlock?
    Seems to me he is.
The truth about that has nothing to do with the state of my inner person.

If a prophet brought an angry rebuke, the anger doesn’t nullify the message.

Better to consider the message, rather than trying psychological experiments on the messenger.

    >> I want people to be restored and my love for them comes out.
Be careful you are not favouring the perpetrators (Bentley and accomplices) rather than the thousands of victims.
Todd Bentley has caused tremendous harm. Do you have any love for the victims?
What about the people who were physically assaulted (“in the name of BAM”) and not healed?
There is a need to take sides in matters sometimes, as the extension of having goodwill for everyone is that you may end up having sympathy for Lucifer who got kicked out of heaven for just having a bad thought.

    >> I understand being angry but it seems a bit like a vigilante
Its just a strong conviction about serious harm being caused by fraudulent practitioners.
You seem to be able to see some good in Todd Bentley.

I can only see good if he first repents of his witchcraft.
Otherwise I just expect the destruction of Todd and his followers to fulfil scripture.

Misguided goodwill can be naive and harmful.

Rev 21:7-8 He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Todd has been involved with sexual immorality, vile practices, magic arts and lying.
If you aren’t aware of this, then just do a google search of “Todd Bentley”.

  8. Oh Bill, Bill, Bill,

If I wanted to shut you down I would. After all this is MY blog. I don’t mind hearing you. All I wanted to point out is that your views are peppered with something other than love.

If you feel I am being easy on Todd Bentley, you must not have read my blog on him. I am not being easy on him. I never agreed with what he was doing and I spoke as such. BUT I am not going to call him a warlock when I have never met the guy. The same thing you are getting upset at me for doing (which is making assumptions about you) you are doing about him and others whom you have probably never even met. “Is Todd Bentley a warlock?
Seems to me he is.” I do not condone that critical type of behavior but I do agree that he should not be leading in the body of Christ. Aren’t you judging the state of his inner person, Bill? Like you accused me of? Pot/kettle comes to mind.

Bro, the pendulum has swung the other way for you. You felt you were being deceived in Toronto and now you are in the opposite ditch! Go figure?! I do not see you as contributing to a debate but I see what you are doing as judgmental and with a critical spirit; incidentally both are ungodly. Say what you want to say but you don’t need to be the judge and jury. God will get vengeance, not you!

Lastly, I got to much to be doing to banter back and forth anymore. This is useless (which is scriptural too, look it up).

Bill, I pray you and your family find a great church to be plugged into, serve God with all your heart, and move on in you walk with Jesus. Pray for these people and the ones who have been hurt by it and then move on.

Blessings to you and your family! I wish you all well!

  9. Love and respect you, Brother Dutch, and agree with much of what you had to say about the situation in Lakeland and the body of Christ in general. But, you know, when all’s said and done I have to admit I feel like a young girl who’s been molested most of her life, and there comes a time when she says, “Enough!”

Yes, enough. Leave us alone. Please leave His church, His people, His bride, alone. All you “leaders”. All you pharisees, saducees, and teachers of the law. Please take your hands off us and let us be.

You’ve been telling us all these years that you’re meeting our needs. That we need you. That we can’t do “it” without you. But we’ve been seeing for awhile now what’s really been going on. How we’ve been meeting YOUR needs all this time. Our time, our money, our talents, our families, our homes, our hearts and minds, our LIVES… you’ve stuck your hands where they don’t belong for far too long, and it’s time to say, “ENOUGH!”

We’re not going back to business as usual. We’re not going to waste another 10, 20, 30 years listening to your sermons and your teachings and your prophecies and your plans. The product isn’t what’s been advertised and we’re done chasing the carrot. We see it for what it is and we forgive you, but we’re done playing the game.

We’re done gazing up at you from our lowly perches. We’re done saying “How high?” to your “Jump.” We’re done placating your enormous egos and craven need for adulation at our and our families’ expense. For the little scraps we get that fall to the ground from your table. Because, you see, we don’t really need you. At least not the “you” most of us have had all these years. The closest to God, smartest about God, most anointed of God and blessed of God, infallible prophet, priest and king “you”. So, thank you very much, but we’re done pretending the emperor has clothes.

God must come to our hearts and our homes, brothers and sisters. That’s the simple bottom line. All the failings we see in the body of Christ are a direct result of God not taking His place in hearts and homes.

It’s not complicated at all. It’s really very simple. Much simpler than most would have us believe. If God isn’t God of our hearts and homes, what is He God of? And if God isn’t God of our leaders’ hearts and homes, what do they really have to give us? Theory?

They would have us believe “higher levels mean higher devils”. They would have us feel guilty when they fall as if it’s somehow our fault. (When they’re actually caught red-handed, that is. The rest of the time we do as we’re told and look the other way, pretending not to notice because what good would it do anyway?) If only we prayed more or supported them more. If only we gave more. Yes, somehow it’s all our fault. Just like the molested little girl. (But all of this is neither here nor there. Because it’s a brand new day.)

Love God, love others as you love yourself. At least that’s what Jesus said it boiled down to. You know, CHRIST Jesus?

How complicated is that? You need a PhD for that? Even a little child can understand it. How many commandments did God give the people through Moses? This isn’t rocket science, folks. Faith in Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection remits our sins and creates in us a clean, new heart. So that we can be filled with the Holy Spirit of God who IS love. So that we CAN love. Ta-daa. Pretty basic stuff, I think we’d all agree.

So, please, exalted rulers, please back down and leave us and our families alone. Please know your place. Please TAKE your place. Because you do realize, don’t you, that it’s high time, and then some.

I’m sure you realize, way deep down inside even, that there’s an awful lot of us out here whose shelves are filled to overflowing with your never-ending, not freely given verbiage, who have the audacity to think we might actually be able to do this thing called love… without you. (Oh my God, how could we, it’s all so horribly complicated!!)

Please, know your place, take your place. With all due respect.

One though many of His children

  10. Neophyte,

Thank you for your response. It sounds almost poetic and certainly very sincere on where you are with all of this. I appreciate your sharing your heart.

  11. Dito, You said it all. I couldn’t have said it better myself. I too think highly of Dutch Sheets and after his sincere apology I have even more respect for this man of God. And any Christian who still judges him after this needs to read again the scripture below that Dutch Sheets put in his apology.

If you still stand in forgiveness of this man then I question your sincere Christianity.

  12. all I can say is WOW! and maybe that myspace rant was a little vigilanty, wanting to rescue my friends? Oops, and I’m the one always saying love never fails … I ought to take some of my own advice … haha!

  13. Jesus told us to love God and our neighbor and He also told us MT 12:35 “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

But my neighbors are not evil and wicked men, wolves in sheep’s clothing, liars, thieves or rapists who prey on dumb unsuspecting sheep just like the sons of Eli did. And God held Eli responsible for not constraining his sons?

So those who support evil and wicked ones like Todd and the false Apostle and Leaders are no less guilty then Eli whom God judged and killed along with his sons!

And Apostle Paul told us that we were to expose these evil and wicked men not bless them or entertain them:

ACTS 20:29 “For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 20:30 “Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.

EPH 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 5:12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 5:13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.

And Jesus told us all about why Todd Bentley and his friends are hiding and will not come out in the open to repent of their sins and ways:

JN 3:19 “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 3:20 “For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 3:21 “But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

  14. Dutch Sheets’ statement omits the most serious aspect, which is improper endorsements and false prophecies spoken over Todd Bentley at his commissioning ceremony.

    Here are the transcripts:
    Peter Wagner:
“This commissioning represents a powerful spiritual transaction taking place in the invisible world. With this in mind, I take the apostolic authority that God has given me and I decree to Todd Bentley:
    Your power will increase.
    Your authority will increase.
    Your favor will increase.
    Your influence will increase.
    Your revelation will increase.
    I also decree that:
A new supernatural strength will flow through this ministry.
A new life force will penetrate this move of God.
Government will be established to set things in their proper order.
God will pour out a higher level of discernment to distinguish truth from error.
New relationships will surface to open the gates to the future.”

    Che Ahn:
“Recognizing that God has chosen you and appointed you to bear much and lasting fruit in this Lakeland revival, and revival around the world.
Recognizing that He has called you as an Ephesians 4 evangelist and a revivalist moving in signs and wonders.
Knowing that you have walked in a manner worthy of the Lord, pleasing Jesus in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, and growing in the intimacy and knowledge of God, we as your brothers and your friends, who have a deep love for you, Shonnah, your whole family, we just esteem you.
We are here to stand with you, support you.
And we are here to commission you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–in the power of His name–with special oil from Chuck Pierce.
It’s called ‘Revival Oil.’ Chuck could not make it, so he sent this Fed-Ex. Special oil for you. He’s in Africa.
And so we anoint you and commission you in Jesus’ name.”

    John Arnott:
“We bless you today, Todd Bentley. You’re a friend. You’re a man of God. You’re a man of prayer. You’re a man of the spirit. You love the anointing.
And I would say that it’s not just the Lakeland revival, but the whole world that goes into revival.
And you’re leading an amazing charge.
And, multitudes are getting in behind you and saying, ‘Come on. I’m gonna go with you.’
And so we bless all of that. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for raising up this young man, to lead such a mighty charge around the world, and to partner with God TV in all that has happened here in the last, uh, several months now, three months almost.
We bless it in the name of Jesus, and we stand with you, and we encourage you, and we honor you.”

    Dr. Clarice Fluitt:
“Hallelujah! For the word of the Lord would say, Behold the vanguard. Behold the tugboat that is cutting through the ice of religious traditions–the cruel, hard things.
The understanding of the mind of men will now bow to the reality of the revelation of the finished work of Calvary.
Behold, sayeth God, you have been equipped with cutting power.
You have been equipped to go through those traditions of the mind of man.
Yea, sayeth God, and you are pulling the church into the realm of glory.
Behind you is a great ship that is laden with healing and deliverance and prosperity. This is the word to you, oh man of God- arise, kill, and eat.
No longer; no longer; no longer will men call unclean what I have called clean.”

The first 2 (Peter Wagner and Che Ahn) can be seen on video at http://vodpod.com/watch/835371-todd-bentleys-apostolic-and-prophetic-commissioning-14

Dutch Sheets is also a false prophet who promotes “New Age” (occult) teachings, see http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/narfalseprophecies.html and http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/wagnerquotes.html

The Bible warns us of false practitioners (savage wolves) who will infiltrate and harm the church:

Matthew 7:15-17 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

Mark 13:5-6 Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many.

Todd Bentley was mostly a false practitioner (going by the fruit of his practices, teaching and personal life) and he was commissioned by people whose fruit is false prophecy.

And yet churches are still permitting them the title “Apostle”, inviting them in for entertainment, and listening to their counsel.

    Why is this so?

  15. If you look at this video of Todd Bentley BEFORE his Lakeland commissioning http://vodpod.com/watch/716278-todd-bentley%E2%80%99s-ring-of-teleportation-fire) then you can reasonably conclude he is either misguided or deceitful.

The methods he used to raise money (after the Lakeland commissioning) suggest deceitful, see http://www.paulferree.com/audio/todd_bentley_audio.mp3

The fact these so called prophets and apostles (Dutch Sheets, Peter Wagner, Che Ahn, John Arnott, and Dr. Clarice Fluitt) enthusiastically endorsed Todd, seems to confirm they are ALL IN CAHOOTS with something diabolical.

This link of 14 May http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UzwBMT2hK4 where Todd describes his historical calling, seems to confirm they are all part of a major deception that has been building for years.

What will they come up with next?

What is wrong with discernment such that Christians didn’t IMMEDIATELY know these people are false?

What is wrong with Biblical knowledge such that Christians easily accept their teachings and follow their ministry?

What is wrong with Christians relationship with God, such that these false practitioners can have ANY appeal?

1 John 2:18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come.

1 Tim 6:12-16 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time–God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

  16. Hey Bill, I see you’re back blogging. You know I got other posts you can comment on too, not just the one on Todd Bentley. I have moved on to other things hopefully you will too.

I just did a post on nicknames, how about commenting on that one? What is your nickname, Bill?

  17. Will Do.

  18. Hey guys, blessings to you. Bill, I’m not sure if you still read this blog I know it’s been a while since it started. First, I’m not at all happy about the sin that Todd has fallen into. But I hear many people saying, well how come these “so called prophets” didn’t discern this from the beginning. Please remember that no prophet discerned KING DAVID’S sin for months. I wonder why sometimes but I’ve come to conclusion none of them discerned for a while because God simply didn’t reveal it to them and David was the King of the nation. I believe God wanted to do a work in David’s heart to bring him to repentance but it didn’t work so then he sent a prophet to him to call him on his sin. Maybe God didn’t reveal it to any of his prophets for the same reason. Those are my thoughts. Have a wonderful day bro.
