Was It You???

A man was being tailgated by a stressed-out woman on a busy boulevard.  Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him.  He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection. The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer.

The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, finger printed, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door.
She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, “I’m very sorry for this mistake.
You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn,
flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him.

I noticed the ‘What Would Jesus do?’ bumper sticker, the ‘Choose Life’ license plate holder, the ‘Follow Me to Sunday-School’ bumper sticker,
and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk,
naturally….. I assumed you had stolen the car.”

  1. Great story…loved it. Thanks for sharing.

  2. And that is why I have my Freedom House “accountability” magnet! 🙂

  3. love this one! Great lesson for everyone! People are always watching us to see if we’re really “real” with our “Jesus talk”. I know we’re human and we’re gonna make mistakes, but, being led by the Holy Spirit sure wouldn’t end up like this lady!!!

by the way, the new “possibly related posts”…have you checked these out? I know they weren’t on here originally. There are some that are quite unGodly!!! Didn’t know if you knew or not or if maybe this is an automatic thing that’s on here.

  4. Hi Pastor Penny!
Thank you for sharing this story! While it was interesting, it is often so true! It is amazing what can come out of us in a stressful moment. It brought back to my remembrance a time when I was playing basketball. It was 2 on 2. The first team to 13 would win,and we were going by 1’s. My team had tied the game 12-12. The team to score the last shot would win the game. Well, my team lost. We were so bummed after we lost! We started shouting at each other and I was shouting at the top of my lungs! It took us a few minutes to calm down and realize that is was just a game and we would live to play another day! Through that incident I realized that there were a few things I needed to change about myself with the help of the Holy Spirit. Often what is really inside of us comes out when we go through a trial or issue in life. I am glad God showed me that because now I am much better at dealing with stress and conflict. Also I am a much better person because of what I went through and I have been purified through the refiner’s fire. Once again thanks for sharing Pastor Penny.
